German-language premiere 11 October 2025, Thalia Theater
Who was Hannah Arendt? We meet the political theorist in 1975 in a hotel room in Copenhagen, hours before she is to receive the Danish Sonning Prize for her contribution to European culture. While preparing for her speech, she is drawn into a deep maelstrom of surreal memories – about love, criticism and her entire life. We get to know one of the sharpest and most provocative thinkers of the 20th century at some of the turning points in her life: the rise of fascism, her escape, her rootlessness, and her never-ending search for answers. And – Adolf Eichmann.
In her drama, already celebrated in Denmark, Rhea Leman uses a sharp-witted psychological profile to explore the rift that runs through society to this day.
Arendt was translated from English by Henning Bochert.
